Every once in a while, I come across something that is so “what sick mind thought this up?” that it turns out to be a combination of WFT moments and hysterical laughter. From Instagram:
What if a fruit fly’s brain could play chess? 
FliPy is a fascinating simulation that uses the mapped connectome of a male Drosophila melanogaster — the common fruit fly — to make chess moves. 
Levy Rozman (aka Gotham Chess) pitted FliPy against Martin, a stupendously inept bot on chess.com. You just can’t make this stuff up, but it is hysterical, as is his narration of the battle. The fruit fly actually led at multiple points in the game.

I hope someday they map the brain of our beloved ʻōpae so you can play a true poʻo ʻōpae.
