I should mention that I’m now using iCab on my PowerBook G3. It’s still a tradeoff. It runs much quicker than MS/IE, and shares CPU cycles in a much more congenial manner. However, it doesn’t display a lot of my favorite sites very well; one told me that I need to get a newer browser. The search for the perfect browser continues….
I can’t think of a better way to test the fix of my iTunes scripts than to post that I haven’t had a crash for hours.
I can’t think of a better way to test the fix of my iTunes scripts than to post that I haven’t had a crash for hours. This is such a blatant challenge to Murphy that I can’t imagine it going unanswered. Here we go….. Maybe he didn’t here me. I said I HAVEN’T HAD A CRASH IN HOURS….. (as he hits the ‘Post Changes’ button) Well, either Murph lives an eastern time zone and has gone to sleep already or I really have fixed the scripts. So far so good…

Lawmaker: Is CD copy-protection illegal? “On Friday, Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Va., sent a letter to executives of the recording industry’s trade association, asking whether anti-piracy technology on CDs might override consumers’ abilities to copy albums they have purchased for personal use. A 1992 law allows music listeners to make some personal digital copies of their music.” These clowns can’t have it both ways. They’re either going to have to abandon copy protected CDs or give up the royalites they get on blank media. Tell ’em Keola says so.
I hadn’t seen the As The Apple Turns website before.
I hadn’t seen the As The Apple Turns website before. The layout would make one awesome Manila theme. I wonder why Apple’s legal pitbulls haven’t gone after these guys for “look and feel” issues.
Brian Huges sends Dave some feedback on MS/IE.
Brian Huges sends Dave some feedback on MS/IE. I’ve about had it with MS/IE myself. I gave up Navigator for it when MS/IE 5 for Mac came out. It does render a bit faster, but it really does lock up the processor on my PowerBook G3 from the time you request a URL until the page is drawn. I need to give iCab a try.
Hau’oli Makahiki Hou! Happy New Year everyone! And thanks for the new theme, UserLand and Bryan Bell!

Putting the Radio back in Radio Userland. I’ve been spending way to much time with Radio Userland this weekend.
Putting the Radio back in Radio Userland. I’ve been spending way to much time with Radio Userland this weekend. Mucho mahalos to Sam Devore for helping with some iTunes scripts. I now can publish a list of my most recently played MP3s to my Weblog. The side benefit is that it can also publish the same list to my Manila site. That part is a highly modified version of a script Lynn Siprelle sent me way back. Life is good. Its not clean or completely automated yet, but the difficult stuff is mostly done so I’m going to bed now.
I want to put the ‘radio’ back in my Radio Userland.
I want to put the ‘radio’ back in my Radio Userland. I’d like to have RU (or Frontier for that matter) query iTunes every minute or so to see what’s playing, a build up a database of the stuff I’m spinning, and maybe publish it. I think I can handle the Usertalk side of this and storing the data in my odb (sufficient prior art there). However, I’m stuck on have RU get the data from iTunes. I imported the aete resource (using Frontier). I’ve gone through Preston Holme’s Object Model docs and can’t figure out how to do this.…
Philosophy My Tuckus
Hey Dave, do the Mets still have a philosophy, or have they just adopted the Yankees’ ‘non-philosophy’ of buying up all the talent in sight? In the past couple of weeks they’ve picked up Mo Vaughn, Roger Cedeno, and Robbie Alomar, and are pursuing Juan Gonzalez. Vaughn says he’s been working out and has proclaimed himself fit. From the looks of this picture the only running he’s been doing is from the limo to the pizza shop front door. Time to beef up the suspension on the team bus. Normally I don’t give much thought to baseball, but enjoy Dave’s…
