We picked up a DVD player recently, and it contained a free trial for Netflix, so we decided to give it a shot. Three weeks have passed and I still can’t figure out if I like it or not. You make a list of your 10 most wanted DVDs, and they send whatever DVD is available from the top of your list. They seem to be pretty quick with getting the new releases, but the cycle takes getting used to. They advertise “All all the videos you want for $19.95 a month.” Well, you can have three videos out at a time, and “out” starts when they send you a DVD, and ends when they get it back from you.
In Hawai’i that means no matter how quickly you pop the DVD back in the mail, you’re not going to get a one week turnaround. Our family’s viewing usually includes 2-3 movies over the weekend. Even if we send all DVDs back on Monday, we’re not going to get new ones for the next weekend.
