He Roa Te Wā (It’s Been A Long Time)

It’s been nearly four years since I’ve done anything significant with this website. It was hacked a few years ago and it took some effort and a lot of help from the folks at Pacific Pro-Tech Services to get it ressurected.

I noticed that most of the graphics are broken and I’m working with them to get them working again. The only significant new post here was my development of a Hawaiian keyboard for Chrome OS, which can be found in the ‘Ōlelo Tech area above.

In May 2020 I started a new journey in learning Te Reo Māori (the Māori language). I’ll discuss that process, and provide links to resources I’ve found valuable in that endeavor. For ka po‘e ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i (Hawaiian language speakers – such as myself), you’ll find many similarities in the language that will help you tremendously, but do know there are significant differences, and our ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i tendencies and norms can make it a challenge to implement these differences.

COVID-19 has been a bitch, and while it’s easy to blame it on 2021, we’re far from out of the woods and our ‘ohana will be even more cautious in the coming months due to the lack of common sense displayed by so many. E mālama pono ‘oukou, i makahiki 2021 palekana a pōmaika‘i iā kākou a pau (take care, let us all have a safe and blessed 2021)!
