My good deed for the day.

I spent some time with Scott on iChat trying to troubleshoot a problem with his copy of Radio Userland. All of his permalinks and picture links were broken, and the domain name of his site appeared twice in the URL, the second time it appeared as the root directory. I suspected it was a folder name problem and we found it. You need to be sure to use “http://” in the URL field in the FTP Option page (this link will only work if you have RU and it is running). Otherwise Radio interprets all of the URLs as relative,…

Why would I want my tunes interrupted by a phone call?

Apple Computer, in partnership with Motorola introduced the iTunes Phone, a music-playing phone. It comes loaded with iTunes software and can hold about 100 songs, and songs can be transferred from PC or Macintosh computers via a USB cable. Notice the print that is not only fine but grey as well – 2 year contract required. I’m not even remotely tempted.

MSNBC knows it all, I guess.

I’ve been watching MSNBC’s coverage of the death of Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist. After about 15 minutes it occurred to me – their reporters were simply interviewing each other on this development. There were no statements from anyone in the government, attorneys, fellow justices. Nada. They showed the same video clip of Rehnquist in his gown seven or eiight times and every one of the reporters parroted the same line regarding the ability of the president to appoint someone other than one of the existing justices as Chief Justice, or appoint one of the current justices and then…

W steps on his unit… again.

Whether he does nothing or jumps in with both feet, the leader of the free world can’t help but mess things up. Three tons of food ready for delivery by air to hurricane Katrina refugees in sat immobile Friday afternoon as all air traffic was halted because of President Bush’s visit to New Orlean. Arrangements had been made to airlift food by helicopter, and the food sat in trucks because helicopters were not permitted to fly until the president left. The food was expected to be in the hands of storm survivors after the president left the devastated region Friday…

More jobs to go in Donegal.

It seems that nearly every or two week I come across an article that announces the loss of jobs in the second most beautiful place I’ve ever visited. A plant closing will mean 67 people will lose their jobs, after 560 people were notified last week that they would be losing their jobs in Donegal with the closure of Hospira. I was thrilled to see that RTE has RSS feeds now. It will undoubtably become my primary source of Ireland news. Now if only Radio na Gaeltachta started podcasting

Hawai’i storms back for Little League crown.

Congratulations to the youngers from ‘Ewa Beach on O’ahu for their tremendous accomplishment. They overcame a blown call by the homeplate umpire which could have cost them their composure and well-deserved victory, but persevered in what some already call the greatest game in Little League World Series history. Well done, lads.
