Another feature on the struggle to keep Irish alive, and the government’s efforts in that endeavor.
The luck of the Irish? No, it’s just hard work and a grand plan.
From down under, a story of how Ireland went from being one of the EU’s ugly step-children to one of its richest.
Too cool! I’m linked from an Irish language blog talking about podcasting!
It will take me weeks to translate this post. The author emailed me (most of it in English, fortunately!), and part of it expresses the desire to see Raidio na Gaeltachta (the Irish language radio station) make programming available via podcasts. Memories of Ireland and Donegal.
I tend to get a bit nostalgic this time of year as the anniversary of our trip to Ireland approaches. I would love to be able to return to Gleann Cholm Cille and Oideas Gael every year. <Sob>
Dingle No More.
Under new rules to promote the Irish language, Dingle must now be known by the Gaelic name An Daingean, and local businesses seem to be less than thrilled by the development.
Sex and the Irish.
Mahalo to Scott for this pointer. The conclusion: “We like sex and plenty of it, with lots of different partners, oh, and a few toys to give it that extra edge. And we’re not averse to a bit on the side either, if the opportunity is there.” Egads, what would the new pope think?
