One would be a Radio tool that could take Manila root file and convert it so that it could be upstreamed. My NahenaheNet site has been on EditThisPage.com since the day ETP opened. The server has gotten a bit sluggish, and while I’m not complaining as it is provided free, I’d be happy to move my site off of it if I could convert it to a Radio site. I realize it’s not trivial, and I’m not that versed in Usertalk or the data structures of the two systems to pull it off. The site has close to 1600 posts…
To renew Radio or not to renew, that is the question.
It’s been nearly two months since I’ve made a post here, and while I do use Radio for some static site maintenance, I’m having a tough time deciding whether or not to renew it. My local home page, which I haven’t looked at in weeks, tells me I have 5 days left to decide. One issue I have is that I can’t remember the last time there was any major (or even minor) update or new feature. I’ve been using the same beta for at least a year. I’ve been using Frontier since the initial release of Aretha years ago,…
Hopefully this will draw the attention of some WinMedia experts.
I’m in charge of an archive of about 1000 hours of interviews with native Hawaiian speakers that we are currently digitizing. It is one of the largest and most valuable audio archive available for any indigenous language. We do have security concerns regarding this. We realize that making the audio completely copy-proof is impossible, and we’re not sure to what lengths we want to go to protect them. We may decide that minimal security is necessary if any at all. We might want to only stream, but then again we might want to allow downloads. As yet to be determined.…
I’ve been so busy with work and a recording project that I’ve had no time at all to post to RK.
I’ve been so busy with work and a recording project that I’ve had no time at all to post to RK. Bad Keola. That will be rectified shortly as I hope to stimulate some discussion into the pros and cons of various audio formats and their DRM schemes.
Disney Channel implanting the corporate line in your children (again).
A few years ago there was a minor uproar when the Disney Channel’s ‘The Proud Family’ aired an episode that talked about online song swapping, and while they claimed that the show discussed the issue in a balanced fashion, it really pushed the corporate line on the issue. I was only partially tuned in as my daughter was watching the movie “Pixel Perfect.” In one scene, the two main characters meet a rap star, and during the discussion they talk about his breakout release, and he mentions how he didn’t make anything off of it, but says with no regret…
I’ll agree with most of Russ Beattie’s observations on Job’s Apple Keynote.
I was pretty disappointed with the iPod Mini, too. There’s only $60 difference between the iPod Mini and the smallest (HD space-wise) iPod, but the former has only 25% of the HD space. But GarageBand sounds way cool. I have Soundtrack and it is pretty slick as well, but adding audio recording and editing at that price is incredible. I’ll definitely be picking it up. If Apple would only do this kind of pricing on their hardware.
quickSub is a Javascript function that adds intelligence to the feed button on your web page.
It looks interesting and I wouldn’t mind using on Radio Keola and NahenaheNet, but on Safari the popup menu doesn’t go away when you move the cursor off of the XML icon. Will contact the developer. Update: there is a little “x” in the upper right hand corner of the popup, and dragging the cursor over that makes the popup window go away. Pretty cool little script. I might give it a try here.
According to the Ranchero site NetNewsWire can subscribe to channels via a link on the webpage.
Just testing. If you have NetNewsWire or another aggregator that uses the feed: link, Click here to subscribe to the Radio Keola RSS feed. I just checked and it works.
I’ve had this Radio Userland blog almost as long as Radio’s been a blogging tool.
I’ve had this Radio Userland blog almost as long as Radio’s been a blogging tool. When I first got it, I made the comment I need another website/blog like I needed another hole in my head. It’s floundered for some time, lacking direction or purpose other than an occasional brain fart. I decided to refocus on the two things that I’m focusing on these days – the Hawaiian and Irish languages. I’ll be posting links to articles on both, and sharing my thoughts as well. Stay tuned.
Apple is really on the ball. Well, at least their shipping department is.
This past Sunday, I ordered an eMac for my mother, and was pleasantly surprised (and a bit skeptical) when I received an email about two hours later that it had shipped. A two hour turnaround on a Sunday? Yesterday (Thursday) I noticed an eMac box sitting in our main work area, and didn’t think much of it as I figured there was no way it was mine (we live in Hilo, Hawai’i). Someone else must have ordered one, or it was for our office. Seeing it still untouched today, I went over, and it was indeed the one I ordered.…
