Thank goodness the Lakers won tonight.

Thank goodness the Lakers won tonight. Yes, I am a Lakers fan, but in addition, I could think of nothing more boring that a New Jersey/Sacramento matchup for the NBA title. It would probably get the lowest ratings of any NBA Finals matchup in history. Not that the Lakers are out of the woods, by any stretch of the imagination. But at least the prospect of a Nets/Queens matchup is put off for a few more days. Kidd and Webber are great players, but I would find it difficult to get two excited at the prospect of either of those…

[ Via Scripting News ] Blockbuster Takes On NetFlix. Keola’s Take On NetFlix… I gave up on them after only two months (one free and one paid). It wasn’t their fault, but it just took too darn long for some DVDs to get here. Some got here in three days, others took close to two weeks (we’re in Hawai’i). Two weeks after I cancelled our account, I got an email from NetFlix that they had not received the two DVDs that I had mailed prior to cancelling, and that I would have to pay for them ($19.95) if they didn’t…

I’ve been watching the NBA for thirty years, and a Lakers fan since they got Kareem in the late 70s. If I was coaching an NBA team and could pick any player who ever lived to take a game winning (or losing) shot, it wouldn’t be Jerry West, Kareem, Michael, Magic or Larry. It would be Robert Horry. The look on his face when he takes the kinds of shots like the one that sent the Trailblazers home whimpering again would make you think he could care less if he made or missed them. No fear, no determined look, just…

Dave says ” What email has become.

Dave says “What email has become. 2/3 spam. 1/5 viruses. A bunch of ad hominems, sprinkled with a few interesting messages.” I couldn’t agree more. I checked my email after getting out of the hospital and found that 85% of it was spam or viruses. Email has already gotten to be more of an annoyance than a benefit. What the hell can you do?

Ouch

Getting a gall bladder taken out doesn’t sound like a big deal (at least I never thought of it in such terms), but I have a greater appreciation for that little organ now. I had mine taken out on Friday and will be out of commission for at least another week.

I got a call from my wife this afternoon at work; she was very distressed. She had stopped off at Walmart on the way home, and while she was inside someone stole a package out of her truck that my parents had sent us. As today was our anniversary we both assumed the worst, and that someone had made off with our anniversary present. She called my mother when she got home, and found out that the package contained a pair of pants that I had left at their home a few weeks ago on a one night layover on…

We picked up a DVD player recently, and it contained a free trial for Netflix, so we decided to give it a shot. Three weeks have passed and I still can’t figure out if I like it or not. You make a list of your 10 most wanted DVDs, and they send whatever DVD is available from the top of your list. They seem to be pretty quick with getting the new releases, but the cycle takes getting used to. They advertise “All all the videos you want for $19.95 a month.” Well, you can have three videos out at…

This past Sunday, St.

This past Sunday, St. Patrick’s day, marked the start of the three month countdown for our trip to Ireland. How appropriate. I’m thinking of using RA as the journal of our trip. Things have been so busy around here I really haven’t been able to much thought into it. What do you do when you have one of the world’s coolest technologies at your fingertips, and no time do do anything with it? I’m off to Monterey for a language conference tomorrow.
